Every consumer PS3 has HDCP built-in and it cannot be disabled. Although PS3 developer units do not have HDCP built-in, they lack the ability to play DVD and Blu-ray discs.
If you plan to use one of the scalers below with a PS3, then you must bypass HDCP with an intermediary device (PS3 > Device > Scaler). Ways to achieve this:
- An HDMI 1x2 splitter or 1x1 audio extractor (digital-to-digital)
- A component video cable or adapter (analog-to-digital)
Aside from the cost effective options above, there is also an HDCP Doctor aka HDfury (digital-to-digital). This would decrypt/encrypt using a custom firmware, but it's very expensive.

The following settings are recommended for upscaling 720p to 1080p (tested with the Mini's HDMI input):
- H_SCALER = 6
- V_SCALER = 5
- SHARPNESS = 0 or 1 (0 recommended)
NOTE: Even if 1080p is enabled as an output resolution, most PS3 games will choose a 720p output mode.
Morph 4K Specific Settings
The PS3 supports native 1080p, although most PS3 games output in 720p. Make sure the PS3 resolution options have 720p and 1080p enabled. The PS3 will output at the maximum resolution supported by each game.
