The Xbox 360 is a seventh generation home video game console developed by Microsoft, as the successor to the original Xbox.

Xbox 360 games typically target 720p, though a small number are known to run natively at 1080p too.

Models

There were several models of the console released over the systems life span. Early models lacked HDMI output. Earlier consoles in particular are known to have a design fault which causes the GPU to overheat and lead to the red ring of death.

HDMI colour range issues

As with all HDMI enabled systems, it is important to ensure that your console, scaler and TV/monitor are all processing the correct colour range, either limited (sometimes also called standard) or full (sometimes also called expanded or PC).
